 Hi Animal Lovers

Well, I finally got in. Had a hard time doing it. Kept getting rejected because the ID I was using was already taken. Ended up registering three times yesterday and still never got a password. So I registered today under another ID to find out if my previous three IDs were members. Catsgalore was the only one so I deleted the fourth ID. (Is this getting boring?)

Today, ALL the passwords hit my mailbox.

Anyway, I am here now.

I have 7 cats and they are all different in personalities and needs. Sometimes they overwhelm me, especially when one is sick and has to be quaranteed because of special food. That is what is going on now. I have one with severe bladder problems and is now in his second month on s/d so I have to keep him in one certain location. He seems okay now, but he has had relapses in the past when I stopped the s/d diet so I have to keep it up for two whole months, according to the Vet, then he must be on Low PH food for the rest of his life.

Hope everyone here starts posting more. I like hearing pet stories.

I moved this to General Chat.

Sorry you had difficulty getting signed up. :(. Oh well. I deleted the excess accounts. Glad you made it.

I have been trying real hard to get more members, I have been paying for advertising on search engines ect. If you go to google and type in pet forum I am number two. Just takes time I suppose.

I have a (potential) customer who has a cat with FUS. She has been feeding him the prescription science diet, but he is back in the hospital again. Poor little guy. She is going to switch to the food I sell, so long as her cats like it. It is not a prescription diet, just the main formula, but it has less ash than science diets s/d, and the same amount of magnesium and lowers urine Ph. I sure hope it helps her kitty.

Why do you not just seperate him a feeding time? It is better for cats to not have food out all day. Hope he continues to do alright. Thanks for joining!

What is FUS?

My Oreo has Chronic Interstitial Cystitis and it is hard to control. It is incurable.

Why don't you post a printout of all the ingredients in your low ph diet food and I will run it by my Vet and see what he says.

Thanks,
catsgalore

IC would be a type of FUS (I guess they are now calling it FLUTS -feline lower urinary tract syndrome). It stands for Feline Urilogic Syndrome, and it includes a group of conditions with the urinary tract.
Her cat has problems with crystals in its urine.

Here is information on the cat food:

The food is human grade and has no chemical additives/byproducts.

Hey,

Know this thread hasn't done anything for a few months, but I am in the same position with a cat with a UTI. Caught it early and should clear it up with antibiotics. The change to a low Ph producing food should alleviate future infections. The same food can be fed to all of your cats. It will not hurt for cats to have a low Ph in their urine, but surely helps the small percentage that are susceptible to infection. In other words, no longer a need to quarantine. Another option is to feed strictly wet food which is fiscally prohibitive if you have more than about 2 cats.

High amounts of fillers cause a food to make more alkaline urine in kitties. High quality food with larger amounts of meat make for a better urine ph.

Just a quick question for all. My tonkanese Dre' is having issues again with his F.U.S. I had great success with Hills Scient Diet, but over the course of 4 yrs, he has developed an allergy to the coloring additive. I switched foods, tried other F.U.S. treatments, but with such a sensative stomach, its very hard to get under control. I do give this guy tons of credit, he is peeing in the tub, which saves me the agony of figureing out where he is releiving himself, but I know he is hurting. Does anyone here know of any treatments that could possibly work for Dre'?

What food are you feeding? I would get him on a quality natural food.
